EventsFAI Autumn Days: A Must-Attend Event for Art, History, and Culture Enthusiasts
Every year in October, the Italian National Trust (FAI) organizes the FAI Autumn Days, offering exclusive access to sites that are usually inaccessible or little known. This initiative provides the public with the opportunity to discover hidden treasures of Italy’s heritage.
Over the years, the city of Cassino has actively participated in this event, showcasing its rich historical and cultural legacy. During the 2024 edition, guided tours were organized at the Roman Theatre of Cassino, an impressive structure dating back to the 1st century BC. Unearthed in the 1930s and later restored, this ancient theater, with a capacity of around 2,000 spectators, continues to host cultural and theatrical performances, especially during the summer.
Additionally, in 2024, thanks to the FAI delegation of Frosinone, visitors had the chance to explore selected works from the Uni.Ar.Co. contemporary art collection at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio. Among the standout pieces were Tre Sfere by Eliseo Mattiacci and Senza Titolo (Il Pozzo) by Jannis Kounellis, both housed at the Palazzo degli Studi in the Folcara Campus.
These initiatives not only enhance the value of the local heritage but also strengthen the bond between the community and its history, offering residents and visitors a unique chance to rediscover culturally significant sites.
