You are browsing the website of the Land of Trails, but you notice that most of the indicated Trails are of a religious nature and relate to the Saints who frequented the Abbey of Montecassino.
You can follow the Way of Saint Benedict which comes from Norcia and stops at Montecassino, or you can follow the Way of Saint Philip Neri which departs from Montecassino and goes to Gaeta, or the Way of Saint Thomas which follows a circular route passing through the various places he was in this territory where he was born.
Then there are the paths in honor of the Madonna that the faithful travel on specific dates of the year to reach Marian shrines. They are different from the first Trails because they involve the emotion of merging with a population that performs a collective rite that has been repeated for centuries with great passion and participation. The kiss of the two Madonnas on Mount Asprano, celebrated on Monday in Albis, or the celebration of the Black Madonna of Loreto celebrated on December 10, or the procession in honor of the Madonna of Piternis which takes place on September 8 are events not to be missed.
As our knowledge grows and thanks to the support of the Abbot of Montecassino and scholars who wish to collaborate, we can add more. It could not be otherwise considering the importance this place has assumed for the work carried out by Saint Benedict and the Abbots who followed him. The Lombards played a significant role in flourishing the power of the Abbey.
This allowed the construction of a Territorial Organization that has become a subject of study by Territorial Ergonomists and Territorialists who work for the well-being of living beings inhabiting the territory and of those who visit it to strengthen their faith or for simple tourism, a cultural, experiential, quality tourism.
